KingSpry’s Tax Group, led by partner Jonathan Huerta, earned two local school districts a combined $1.5 million dollars in recurring new school district tax revenues in October 2022 via district-initiated tax appeals.
For over a decade, KingSpry has partnered with its client districts to actively review all properties within their boundaries to ensure uniformity and fair distribution of taxation.
“Part of that process is defending the tax base, but the other side of the coin is actively ensuring all property owners are paying their fair share,” Huerta says. “The need for this analysis is exacerbated where counties have gone decades since their last county-wide reassessment.”
KingSpry’s Tax group helps public entities recoup lost tax revenues through real estate tax appeals, from filing the appeal with the Board of Assessors, to litigating the matter before the Court of Common Pleas, to handling any subsequent appeals before the Commonwealth Court or the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Attorney Huerta has successfully litigated numerous taxing authority-initiated appeals, thereby raising millions of additional real estate tax dollars and offsetting the need for annual tax rate increases.
