The KingSpry law firm in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, is proud to announce Episode Seven of their education law podcast, the Legal Lunch Room.
Each episode, our hosts invite education attorneys and school leaders to share how current education law trends and court decisions impact school boards, students and our community.
In Episode 7, we discuss the transformative role of artificial intelligence (A.I.) within the education community. What risks – and opportunities – does this tool offer? Will it change teaching forever?
“For students, this is where the workforce is going,” says Dr. Matthew Link, Superintendent of the Northern Lehigh School District, “so if we can help them truly understand how to use AI in a responsible and ethical way, then they will be that much better prepared.”
The episode also looks at legal issues such as privacy, plagiarism, equity and acceptable use policies.
“Acceptable use policies need to outline what the acceptable behavior is, as well as what the repercussions are for using technology to do something they shouldn’t so the students can be good digital citizens,” says Dr. Tom Kalinoski, Director of Technology and Operations for Colonial Intermediate Unit 20.
Co-host Jonathan Huerta adds, “It’s impossible to ignore the potential (AI) holds to revolutionalize education… but it’s also crucial to remain vigilant about potential ethical concerns, data privacy issues, and ensuring equitable access for all students.”
Our special guests for this episode include Attorney Nikolaus Baikow, Northern Lehigh School District Superintendent Dr. Matthew Link and Colonial Intermediate Unit 20 Director of Technology and Operations Dr. Tom Kalinoski. The episode was produced by Steel Pixel Studios.
