KingSpry is proud to support the 2nd annual “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” student video contest. Above, Attorney Rebecca Young poses with some of the 2014 winners.
This past Fall, 22 student teams from public middle schools across Lehigh, Carbon and Northampton Counties were matched with a local company and tasked to produce a short video highlighting the benefits of manufacturing careers.
“WSCM is designed to change the image of manufacturing and the image of career and technical education in the eyes of students, their adult family members and educators,” said Jack Pfunder, President/CEO of Manufacturer’s Resource Center (MRC), who leads the project. “The project gives students a unique perspective and hands-on experience at manufacturing companies, raising excitement for these types of jobs and allowing the students to see them as another career option.”
The most outstanding student videos will be posted on the Dream It. Do It. Pennsylvania website, www.dreamitdoitpa.com and YouTube channel. Online voting for favorite videos will open February 19 through February 21, 2015. The video that receives the most online votes will win the Viewers’ Choice Award at the awards ceremony, Thursday, February 24, 2014, at ArtsQuest.
We wish all the participating schools the best of luck and encourage everyone to vote and spread the word.
