Join employment attorney Jody Mooney for this look at what the FLSA and EEOC have to say about communicating with hourly employees after hours.
The COVID 19 pandemic loosened traditional working requirements between employers and employees. In an effort to accommodate each other through that difficult time, or to express gratitude for retaining their jobs, workers made themselves available 24-7, but there are still standards for hourly employees and now the EEOC has hired a team of investigators to crack down on violations of FLSA rules.
In this workshop, Labor/Employment attorney Jody Mooney will review the relevant laws for school employers and answer questions including:
- Can I contact my employees after their work shift on a work-related issue?
- How do we handle communications outside of “work hours”? How do we document the contact? Are they entitled to overtime pay when this happens?
- What are the ramifications for employers who continue to communicate outside normal work hours?
Participants may choose to attend in person at Greyfriars Conference Center or online via Zoom webinar.
