Homeless Students, Students in Foster Care and the ESSA

The Every Student Achieves Act (“ESSA”) of 2015, including the reauthorization of the McKinney-Vento Act, incorporates new provisions for ensuring the educational stability of homeless children and children in foster care.
This lunch and learn will explore the impact of these legal updates on schools’ policies and procedures, including:
- – Changes in the definition of “Homeless” and “School of Origin”
- – Duties required of the local homeless liaison
- – New considerations of eligibility/stability
- – Changes in transportation requirements
