Matthew B. Andersen
Matthew B. Andersen focuses his practice on business, real estate, and liquor law, offering clients extensive experience in liquor licensing, regulatory compliance, and operational guidance—particularly within the alcohol manufacturing, distribution and hospitality industries.
A Lehigh Valley native, Matt brings a unique blend of legal insight and industry experience. He has represented breweries, wineries, distilleries, restaurants, wholesalers, distributors, grocery and convenience stores, clubs, non-profits and event planners, and multi‑state chains and alcohol brands in a full range of state and federal compliance matters, including obtaining, buying and selling Pennsylvania liquor licenses, federal TTB permitting, label and formula approvals, audits, and multi‑state distribution and franchise agreements. His background also includes drafting and reviewing management agreements, sponsorship agreements, co‑packing and contract brewing agreements, and conducting jurisdiction‑specific research for companies expanding across state lines.
Matt’s real estate experience spans zoning and land use, commercial and residential transactions, lease drafting and negotiation, due diligence, title matters, and landlord‑tenant issues. He has also advised businesses through entity formation, document drafting, review and negotiation, corporate governance, regulatory reviews, and transactional matters.
In addition to his legal practice, Matt is the founder of Retriever Brewing Company in Orefield, Pennsylvania, giving him firsthand knowledge of the operational and compliance challenges facing alcohol manufacturers and hospitality businesses.
Before joining KingSpry, he served as Owner and Attorney at ALC Law, a liquor law and consulting firm, and previously practiced at Norris McLaughlin & Marcus as a member of their liquor law, business, and real estate groups. He began his legal career as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Stephen G. Baratta of the Northampton County Court of Common Pleas.
Matt earned his Juris Doctor from Duquesne University School of Law, where he held several editorial and leadership positions, including Executive Editor of the Business Law Journal and Editor‑in‑Chief of Juris Magazine. He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and a minor in law. He is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
