KingSpry is proud to support the students of Pocono Mountain School District, Delaware Valley School District, Stroudsburg School District, East Stroudsburg Area School District and Pleasant Valley School District who are participating in a whole new kind of high school musical this Spring.
Knowing most high schools in the area would not be able to put on a typical Spring musical this year due to the pandemic, Pocono Mountain Music Festival offered an alternative idea.
They invited students from participating districts to submit videos of themselves performing their favorite song – the best of the best were chosen to participate in a series of virtual practices and on Saturday, April 24, gathered at the Sherman Theatre in Stroudsburg for a taping of their live performances.
Dr. Catherine Sweeney, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Pocono Mountain School District became involved with the program because, “Students across the country are struggling with isolation and depression because of the pandemic. They miss seeing their friends every day and interacting on a personal level with their teachers. If we’re serious about keeping our students mentally healthy, we need to be equally serious about letting students experience music. Pocono Mountain was able to provide high school performers an opportunity to musically perform by participating in the spring high school musical. This has been a wonderful experience and creative outlet for our students to get back live on stage and perform.”
“As a father of two professional daughters whose life and education was enriched by their experience with High School musical theatre, I am particularly proud that KingSpry can support this innovative effort to provide the experience of musical theatre to Pocono Area students,” said John E. Freund, III, Esquire, Chair of KingSpry Education Law Practice Group and solicitor for Pocono Mountain School District.
