Meet Our 2019 Super Lawyers
Donald F. Spry, II is a founding member of the firm. He chairs the Family Law Practice Group and is also a member of the Education Law Practice Group. As a Pennsylvania Bar Institute faculty member, he lectures frequently on family law and also lectures on education law for other organizations. He has written materials for PBI as well as for other seminars and he appears regularly on the television show American Law Journal.
A graduate of Moravian College, Mr. Spry earned his Juris Doctorate from University of Pittsburgh School of Law. In 2019, he was honored as a distinguished graduate of Moravian College at their Night of Stars event.
John E. Freund is a founding member of the firm and the chair of KingSpry’s education law practice group. Mr. Freund is one of Pennsylvania’s most experienced practitioners in education, employment, civil rights, and issues that affect local government and their insurers. As an education law attorney, Mr. Freund regularly represents public schools, private schools and colleges on a wide range of legal concerns in state and federal courts, administrative agencies and special education due process matters. He also serves as counsel to various regional and national educational organizations.
Mr. Freund graduated cum laude from Princeton University and received his Juris Doctorate from Villanova University, where he was a member of the Villanova Law Review and winner of the Reimel Moot Court Finalist Award. In 2014, he received the Pennsylvania School Board Solicitors’ Association President’s Award for Distinguished Career Achievement to School Law.
Kirby G. Upright is a member of the firm who holds a Masters of Laws (Taxation) as well as being a certified public accountant. Mr. Upright takes particular pride in having been elected a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Council, a prestigious organization to which only attorneys who meet certain exemplary standards are invited. He is one of only two attorneys in northeastern Pennsylvania and approximately 1500 across the nation in ACTEC.
Mr. Upright is a frequent lecturer on matters of estate planning and administration and regularly serves as a faculty member of and has authored many articles for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. He is the past chair of the Real Property, Probate and Trust Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and he has contributed chapters and served as editor of a PBI text entitled “Representing Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered Clients in Pennsylvania.” Mr. Upright is listed in various Who’s Who publications as well as Best Lawyers In America.
A graduate of The Pennsylvania State University, Mr. Upright earned his Juris Doctorate from Akron University School of Law and a Master of Law degree in Taxation from Temple University School of Law.
Our 2019 Rising Stars
Keely Jac Collins is a partner who concentrates her practice in employment and education law and has represented large unionized employers with thousands of employees, as well as small family businesses with a small workforce.
Ms. Collins earned her Juris Doctorate from Widener University School of Law, where she was a member of the Widener Law Review. To continue to enhance her value to businesses and agencies, she is currently working toward an LL.M. in taxation, with as specialization in employee benefits, at Villanova University School of Law.
She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania’s Eastern the Middle District Courts, the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court and has litigated cases on behalf of businesses, agencies, and municipal organization across Pennsylvania. Ms. Collins is a member of the Board and HR committee of YWCA Bethlehem, she serves on the United Way Committee for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and she is an active member of the Society of Human Resources Managers (SHRM).
In 2018, Ms. Collins was a “Top 40 Under 40” recipient by Lehigh Valley Business.
Karley Biggs Sebia was named a partner to the firm in 2019. She focuses her practice in business and real estate law and also advises housing authorities and affordable housing entities on general legal and landlord/tenant matters.
Ms. Sebia is active in the community as the president of the Moravian Academy Alumni Association and a board member of Family Connection of Easton. She also is a member of the Bethlehem Rotary and is the co-chair of the Northampton County Bar Association’s Young Lawyer’s Division Holiday Hope Chest project.
Ms. Sebia earned a Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Government from Franklin & Marshall College, where she was captain of the Women’s Squash Team.
Jonathan M. Huerta concentrates his practice in the areas of litigation and education law. He earned his Juris Doctorate from Pennsylvania State University, Dickinson School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Business Foundations from the University of Texas at Austin.
Mr. Huerta is the chair of the LGBTQ Business Council of the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Zone 2 Governor of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He is a former chair of the Northampton County Bar Association’s Young Lawyer’s Division and a member of the board of the Cancer Support Community of the Lehigh Valley. In 2019, he was named a “Future Leader of the Lehigh Valley” by the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Excellence in Business Awards.
Ryan K. Fields concentrates his practice in estate planning and estate administration law. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of New Hampshire School of Law and his B.S. in Music Industry cum laude from Northeastern University.
Mr. Fields is a board member for the Estate Planning Council of the Lehigh Valley and ACE Mentor Lehigh Valley, a non-profit organization that provides educational and experiential opportunities and scholarships for students interested in pursuing careers in architecture, construction, engineering and related areas.
